AZAFL Tournament

It's a new year, and it's almost time for the inaugural AZAFL Metro Footy
Tournament (FEBRUARY 8th-10th). In order to plan all the events properly,
we need to know which clubs are planning on attending. We need to know
approximate how many people each club is bringing by FRIDAY, January 11th
if
not sooner.

We have also struck a deal with the airport Hilton, so let us know if you
plan on staying there or if you'll be making other arrangements.

501c3 Approval

Happy holidays, all --

I'm very pleased to announce that the USAFL has obtained a favorable ruling form the IRS concerning 501c3 status...that is, we got it!

As an aside to everyone, while I'm thoroughly pleased that the IRS found in our favor (and not so surprised, either), I am shocked it came so quickly to a favorable ending. My experience in Boston attempting to obtain a favorable ruling was both far longer and less positive.

Americans Take Over the USAFL

As you know, former President, Rich Mann and former Executive Director,
Sheri Archer, have returned to Australia. The USAFL and its member clubs
wish them the very best of luck. The league will not be able to replace
them and will miss them very much (Click Here for well wishes to Rich and
Sheri from the USAFL). The USAFL would however like to take this
opportunity to welcome and introduce our new President, Jon Lenicheck
(originally from Milwaukee, WI), our new Executive Director, Sid Caesar

Gary Hill, coach of the American Revolution, the United States National Australian Football team, added some extra excitement to Round 2 of the AZAFL when he made the trip to Phoenix to put on a coaching clinic for the leagues aspiring coaches. Thanks to excellent negotiation from John Pops Meier, AZAFL Commissioner, and great organization by Sam Yabbie Conrad, Steve Mom Hoza, and Revolution team member Jeff Fingers Purcell, the clinic paired with Round 2 to make for an excellent weekend of footy development in the Valley of the Sun.

Missing San Diego Banner

G'day Mates!

I just thought I'd drop a line to let you know I'm doing just fine.
I hear there's been a bit of a fuss about my whereabouts!
Not to worry, I just decided to take a bit of a holiday after the grueling
2001 SD Lions campaign to the National Championship.
As you can see from the photo, I'm in bonny England right now, seeing a few
of the sights.

There's a few other places I'd like to visit before I come home to sunny
San
Diego, but rest assured mates, I'll be there to start the defense of our
title with you!
