Dave Zitko from St Louis Blues Goes Down Under

Back in January, I received a message on Facebook from a guy I played footy with on the U23 Revolution team a couple years ago. The Revolution is the U.S. National team and the U23 team is the team for players 23 years old and younger. He asked me if I was interested in playing in Australia for a season. I replied back and said I was interested, and shortly after got an email from the Revolution head coach, Matt Bishop. At the time, I had no idea what was happening, but several people were working to find a team for me in Australia.

Dallas Top Dogs

The Dallas Magpies continued their strong start to the season defeating the Denver Bulldogs and the Austin crows comfortably on June 2nd in Allen, TX.

In what was expected to be the biggest game in club history, the pies went into the first game confident but wary of the Bulldogs winning history and on-field strength and experience.  Perfect conditions for football on a calm Saturday morning made for a great contest and from the very first bounce it was a fierce contest.

Jackaroos Top River Rats

On a cool June afternoon the Jackaroos went down South to take on the 2011 Division 4 champions, the Ohio Valley River Rats, in the home of the 2012 national tournament, Cincinnati, Ohio. The first ever opponent of the Jacks in 2008, this matchup has always held special importance for members of the club and is awash with emotions despite the lopsidedness of this rivalry with Columbus’s only loss coming during the regular season of 2010.

Houston Lonestars New Kit Proves Worthy

The Lonestars finally unveiled the long awaited strip and it looks fantastic! Our first run with the new kit saw only 8 players make the journey to play against Baton Rouge. While  small in numbers  – we were big on effort  to win a hard fought contest against the Tigers in a 10 a side match. The storms stayed away which meant perfect conditions for footy and Clark Park was in excellent condition.  The Lonestars got off to a great start kicking into the wind and played strong  contested footy all around the ground. The match was close all day and after taking a 3 goal lead

Milwaukee's Heather O'Keeffe Gives an Update from Queensland

They say that those who cannot play coach; that is what I have found myself doing on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia and not because my skills are inferior.

My dad is a founding member of the USAFL and by default I have grown up around footy. For as long as I can remember I have been watching footy in the park, and I probably learned to handball before I learned to throw a spiral.
