Freeze Rout Chicago in Intense Rivalry Clash

The Minnesota Freeze continued their strong start to the season Saturday, defeating the Chicago Swans in a hard-fought rivalry match 79-26 on Chicago’s home ground at Waveland Park.

Coming off a strong showing in the Des Moines 10-a-Side Tournament in which the Freeze emerged as champion, the Freeze rolled into Chicago with momentum and their eyes set on avenging a tough 2013 loss to the Swans in Chicago.

Lady Suns Shine Through

Saturday, June 7, 2014 - On the weekend the Suns welcomed their NorCal rivals, the San Francisco Iron Maidens and Golden Gate Roos, and for the first time the Los Angeles Dragons to participate in the Sacramento Showdown. It was an action-packed day with plenty of great footy and no doubt the highlight was the Lady Suns emphatic win over the Iron Maidens. 

Pies Too Good For Hawks

The Pies beat Philly in Yonkers over the weekend 8.14 to 0.9 in round 1 of season 2014. The Magpies overshadowed the Philadelphia Hawks, with the backline clearly dominating the Hawks every attempt at goal for all 4 quarters. Scoring was spread across the Magpies lineup with T. Smith leading the charge with 3 goals and one goal apiece for Alex Kwiatkowski, Nick Walker, Ric Ribas Leumann and Mike Fraitta (1 goal unaccounted for).

Bombers Thrash Lions

Orange County jumped on the Bombers Bus and headed down to San Diego for their first full 18-a-side game of 2014, and the team enjoyed the drive back to OC after a 150 point victory over their old rivals.

Tigers Too Tough for Kookas

The NC Tigers won their opening home game of the 2014 season is fine fashion on Saturday with a 104-point victory over the Atlanta Kookaburras at Hank Anderson Memorial Park in Carrboro. Tigers players, fans, and support staff showed up in droves for a fantastic afternoon of footy that saw the Tigers put on an impressive 4-quarter performance to even their season record at 1-1. After a slow start to game in which both sides were trying to get a feel for each other, the Tigers lifted their intensity and maintained it throughout the game, outscoring their opponent in every quarter.

Jackaroos Repel Canadian Invasion

Welcome back to Chicago footy everyone. Round 1 of the 2014 season was a rematch of the 2013 metro grand final, Lincoln Square Tigers Vs the Lincoln Park Piranhas. San Francisco 'Clamps the Lamp'

On Saturday, March 29 the footy season in Northern California kicked off at Nugget Fields in Davis with the Sacramento Suns playing the San Francisco Knights in the annual “Clamp the Lamp” game.

The “Clamp the Lamp” is a game between the reigning Golden Gate Australian Football League Premiers and the Sacramento Suns. The first was played in 2013, also between the Knights and the Suns, with the Suns taking the honors on that occasion.
