MOOSE CUP – MAINE CATS v BOSTON DEMONS – Portland, Maine
Maine 3.5.23 def by Boston 18.26.134

The first ever USAFL game held in the state of Maine saw the newly minted hosts (0-1) play gamely but go down to the established team from Beantown (1-0).  The Cats, augmented with players from AFL Quebec and AFL Nova Scotia, will get their chance for revenge in Boston on June 2nd.  (Report)

Schoennagel Takes Helm as Suns Coach

Vicky Schoennagel has worn many hats during her time with the Sacramento Australian Football Club.

On the field, she’s been a consistent sparkplug defender and two time Lady Suns Nationals MVP, notched an additional 40-plus games in the SacAFL  leagues, and represented her country with the Liberty at the 2014 AFL International Cup.  She’s also umpired matches locally, regionally, and nationally as a certified member of the USAFL Umpires Association.

Arizona to Host Rob Dollar Memorial Tournament

On October 29, 2017, while on his typical Sunday morning ride, Rob Dollar tragically lost his life on his descent of South Mountain Park when he was struck by a car.  Rob, a former Arizona Hawk and Los Angeles Dragon USAFL player, often spoke about his dream of creating a foundation to help cyclists who have been injured on the road, increase bike safety, and promote cycling awareness.  Following his untimely death, family and friends created the Rob Dollar Fou

PHILADELPHIA vs BALTIMORE-WASHINGTON – Oaks, PA

Philadelphia Hawks 1.1.7 def by Baltimore-Washington Eagles 17.16.118

#15 ranked Baltimore-Washington (1-1) jaunted up to Philly and defeated the Hawks (0-1) by their biggest ever margin, 111-points, to pick up their first win of the year.  Sam Rowley led all goalkickers with a cool half-dozen. (Recap).

Here we are, another year.  Another football season, another half a year around the big glowing ball of gas that gives us life to play said footy.

The season is well and truly underway, under the hot, hot heat of Texas, the liquid sunshine of New York, and whatever it is they’re breathing these days in California.
