Bombers Thrash Lions

Orange County jumped on the Bombers Bus and headed down to San Diego for their first full 18-a-side game of 2014, and the team enjoyed the drive back to OC after a 150 point victory over their old rivals.

Although the Lions controlled the first 5-8 minutes of the game they couldn't get a result on the scoreboard, mainly due to the good defensive work of the back six. OC finally kicked into gear after a great play from Scott Leal off half back, and from that moment on it was one way traffic.

The Bombers had 6 first year players pull on the OC jumper for the first time on Saturday, and they all did their club proud. The transition from 10's to 18's isn't easy for a player new to the game, but all the rookies did good things and looked pretty comfortable for the most part.

The Bombers defense continued it's great form in keeping the Lions goalless for the game. Ryan Lorseyedi has taken huge strides and has stamped himself as the OC full back and a defensive leader, and will only continue to improve and develop with the inclusion of Leal into the defensive unit.

Kenrick Tyrell booted 10 goals at full forward, while veteran Adrian Hefferenen slotted a lazy 6 from half forward. The Bombers also welcomed back RJ Meza who was lively around the goals, and Keith Rutherford presented well at CHF and got better as the game went on. The new look midfield was solid and continue to adjust and improve.

At the end of the day it was a good result for OC all round, and a great start for the season.
