All the organizing in the world would have been pointless had everyone not shown up to play. Nov 8, 2000 Denver ReportOn October 14 and 15 in Los Angeles, the Bulldogs won all six of their games and overcame the San Diego Lions in a hard fought Grand Final to come out the Year 2000 Premiers. Matt Dainauski, the Bulldogs President, said it was a victory that the Doggies knew they were capable of, "going all the way back to last year's National Championships - this time, Denver had their day". Oct 16, 2000 Denver wins 2000 ChampionshipLOS ANGELES (Tuesday, October 17, 2000) The Denver Bulldogs nipped the San Diego Lions at the wire to win the 4th Annual Coopers National Tournament of Australian Rules Football. The tournament played in Little Lake Park in Santa Fe Springs, California, over the October 14 and 15 weekend, featured 16 teams from across the Unites States playing 37 games over the course of two days. Oct 3, 2000 300 Game MilestoneAfter passing the 200 game milestone in Santa Cruz at their ANZAC Tournament this year, the USAFL has flown passed 300 games, this time in Nashville at their Annual Football Festival. With the National Tournament fast approaching over the weekend of October 13th - 15th, usfooty will have topped 150 games for this year alone, proving the sport is continuing to boom in the US. Sep 22, 2000 AFL Player ScholarshipWe have arranged for the US's best (must have no Aussie ties) player for 2000 to spend two weeks at Essendon (the 2000 Premiers) in the early part of 2001. USAFL will fund the entire trip (except for food and spending money) and the player will be billetted out to an Essendon player, train with the club, under the guidance of legendary coach, Kevin Sheedy, and will hopefully participate in an intraclub scrimmage match. The recipient of this scholarship will be announced soon after the National Tournament (the player will not necessarily be the National Tournament MVP). Read more » |
