Jun 24, 2012 Burley Sekem Official Supplier of the USAFLThe USAFL and Burley Sekem have reached an agreement to continue the long-standing relationship. Burley Sekem is the official supplier of footballs and apparel to the USAFL, including the USA Revolution and Freedom representative teams. In addition, Burley Sekem will sponsor an alumni game at the 2012 National Tournament in honor of the League’s 15th Anniversary. Read more » |
Jun 24, 2012 USAFL Appoints New TreasurerThe USAFL has appointed Keith Nelson as league treasurer effective June 1, 2012. As planned, former treasurer Adam Coleman stepped down from his duties after a three-year term that had seen significant financial organization. The league had several candidates for the open position. Executive board members and USAFL Advisory Board member Gary Lerch conducted interviews during the two month-long search before recommending Nelson’s appointment. Read more » |
Jun 17, 2012 Jacks Fall to ‘Roos in Away GameThe Columbus Jackaroos (4-1) traveled south on June 16 to face the Nashville Kangaroos (6-1) in a pivotal MAAFL game. In what turned out to be a heated contest the Nashville Kangaroos defeated the Columbus Jackaroos 13.14.92 to 8.6.54 in order to move to 7-1 on the season and hand the Jacks their second loss of the year. Jun 16, 2012 Buffaloes trail on scoreboard but come out way ahead.On a warm but overcast morning in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Coach Dustin Brasel was smiling. He carried that smile all day long...for good reason. The Tulsa Buffaloes were scheduled to host the Dallas Magpies and the Kansas City Power. Going into the game he was worried that he would need players form both visiting teams to round out his team. Game day had arrived and he was surrounded by 16 eager Buffaloes. Jun 9, 2012 Dave Zitko from St Louis Blues Goes Down UnderBack in January, I received a message on Facebook from a guy I played footy with on the U23 Revolution team a couple years ago. The Revolution is the U.S. National team and the U23 team is the team for players 23 years old and younger. He asked me if I was interested in playing in Australia for a season. I replied back and said I was interested, and shortly after got an email from the Revolution head coach, Matt Bishop. At the time, I had no idea what was happening, but several people were working to find a team for me in Australia. Read more » |
Jun 7, 2012 Dallas Top DogsThe Dallas Magpies continued their strong start to the season defeating the Denver Bulldogs and the Austin crows comfortably on June 2nd in Allen, TX. In what was expected to be the biggest game in club history, the pies went into the first game confident but wary of the Bulldogs winning history and on-field strength and experience. The first ever opponent of the Jacks in 2008, this matchup has always held special importance for members of the club and is awash with emotions despite the lopsidedness of this rivalry with Columbus’s only loss coming during the regular season of 2010. May 27, 2012 Denver's Lara Porter Heads Down Under for the SeasonDenver Bulldog and USA Freedom player Lara Porter is heading off to Australia this weekend to play a season of football in Brisbane, Australia. Lara participated in the 3rd placed Freedom squad at the 2011 International Cup in Australia. After discussing an idea with Leigh Barnes, Freedom Head Coach, long time Brisbane resident, player, and coach he set Lara up to play a season with the Yeronga Devils. May 17, 2012 The Rising of the Sacramento SunsThe Sacramento Australian Football Club (SAFC) is pleased to announce that the men’s and women’s representative teams are now officially named the Sacramento Suns. The SAFC is excited that the club will now boast both a men’s and women’s, nicknamed the Lady Suns, representative team that will participate in the 2012 USAFL National Tournament to be held in Mason, OH, during the weekend of October 13-14. The Suns and Lady Suns first official games will be against the Las Vegas Gamblers and the Arizona Lady Hawks, respectively, in Las Vegas on July 28. Read more » |
