That Was the Year That Was 2020

It is December 31st.  The final day of the year that seemed to drag on for three or four.

366 pages fell from the calendar in 2020.  In that respect, it was like any other year, or at least the ones that fall when we play catch up to account for the earth’s rotation around the sun.

But 2020 was not any ordinary year.  It is one that we will have to carefully explain to our children, grandchildren, niblings, and others who are either too young or not hitherto born yet, about what excitedly living through this year was like.  

2020 USAFL Members Shirt

We are proud to introduce the USAFL 2020 Member T-Shirt.

The T-Shirt pays homage to one of the most successful men’s players in USAFL history, Alexander Aurrichio. Alexander lost his life in a tragic accident while riding his bike in Darwin Australia earlier this year.

The T-Shirt design features Alexander’s silhouette that is taken from a photo of Alexander in action at the 2014 USAFL National Championships when he led the New York Magpies to their second Nationals title.

As most of you are aware, the Executive Board has made the decision to cancel the 2020 National Tournament in accordance with the Safety Task Force recommendation. Those of us who have attended a Nationals know how unique and amazing the tournament is and canceling the event was the hardest decision we have been faced with in our 23 year history but we are looking forward to coming back stronger than ever in 2021.

Time for Footy - Bausele and USAFL Launch Partnership

The USAFL is pleased to announce a sponsorship agreement has been reached with Australian watch maker Bausele. As part of the deal USAFL members, mates and family will have a chance to win a watch and other great prizes. The giveaway competition will run for 6 weeks and be promoted across USAFL and Bausele social media channels. The campaign “Time for Footy” will tie in to the USAFL’s weekly release of the AFL’s US broadcast schedule.
