USAFL Accreditation Resources

The following are USAFL recognized accreditations and are recommended for all members of the USAFL to help enhance understanding of the game of Australian Rules and associated safety.  Any questions related to these should be directed to the following:

USAFL Freedom Coaching Nominations

With the retirement of US Freedom Head Coach Leigh Barnes, the USAFL is embarking on a search for a new head coach to lead the US Freedom to the Women's International Cup in 2020.

Freedom Team Coach Position

Overview

USAFL is the recognized representative organization of Australian Football in the USA and is seeking to fill the Head Coaching position for the United States Freedom & United States Liberty, the women's national representative teams. Applications are due December 20, 2017.

First Set of Online Coaching Courses Announced

USAFL coaches will have the opportunity to complete their coaching accreditation in online courses.

The courses, conducted by the league, will allow those interested to earn their Level 1 or Level 2 accreditation.  All USAFL coaches must hold at least Level 1 certification by the end of the 2015 season.

AFL Coaching Conference Opportunity

The USAFL is currently accepting submissions from coaches to represent the league at the AFL Coaching Conference in Melbourne the weekend of January 30th, 2015.

The annual conference will feature footy experts and experienced coaches discussing the game and techniques with other coaches from across Australia who want to develop their skills and help develop and improve their teams.  It's also a great opportunity for American-based coaches to keep their finger on the pulse of coaching football direct from the source.

Coaches Meeting

All team coaches, or a representative, are required to attend this compulsory coaches meeting the evening prior to the tournament.

Each team representative will be give a coaches information pack that includes the important information for the weekend, inluding your teams umpiring duties as well as other information.  Each team will also receive two runner and water t-shirts that must be used throughout the tournament for your teams water carriers and runners.

Subiaco FC to Hold Free Coaching Clinic at Nationals

The USAFL is pleased to announce that the Subiaco Football Club from the Western Australia Football League (WAFL) will be attending this year's National Tournament. Subiaco members are excited to have the opportunity to travel to the US to assist with the tournament as they hope to learn more about the USAFL, offer assistance to tournament participants, help promote the game in the local area and experience what footy is all about here in the US. 

Revolution Development Squad to Play Canada

The USA Revolution, fresh from their success at the 2011 Australian Football League (AFL) International Cup, are busily preparing themselves to take on Canada in the 49th Parallel Cup, to be held in Dublin, OH, on August 4.

The 49th Parallel Cup is played between the U.S. and Canada each of the two years preceding an International Cup year, the next being in 2014. In 2010 an Under 23 Revolution team was drawn together for the very first time and played Canada as a curtain raiser to the women’s and men’s 49th Parallel Cup games.

Australian Rules Football is one of the hardest hitting sports in the world. Be on hand to experience the action of the First Annual Down Under Fest Footy All-Stars Cup (aka The D.U.F.F.A. Cup). Games will begin early on Saturday, May 26 and finishing on Sunday, Monday, May 27, followed by live music, food and beer at the Down Under Fest Pub.

I believe before you can coach others you need to manage your own behaviour and show leadership.

Leadership is a lot of things but good leaders make good decisions every day. They also make a few critical decisions in major areas of their life and then manage those decisions on a day by day basis.

Captain Kirk to join the Mile High Club!

Brett Kirk

Former AFL player and Sydney Swans captain, Brett Kirk will be in Denver for the "2011 USAFL - Mile High Challenge" on Saturday June 25th. Kirk will be in Denver as part of his Captain Kirk’s Odyssey world tour.

Denver is one of only three US stops on his groundbreaking tour across the world where he will be visiting many of the countries that are going to take part in the AFL’s International Cup in Sydney and Melbourn during August.

To mark the occasion the Denver Bulldogs Australian Football Club will be staging the 2011 USAFL - Mile High Challenge.
