Misty Mountain Hop - Previewing the Western Regionals

West Virginia may have been “almost heaven,” but in Colorado you’re topologically closer to it.

Yes, there are mountains in Colorful Colorado.  And from Westminster City Park, you can see most of them in the backdrop as you go up to take your specky.  It’s just picture perfect.

And thus we return for the third time as part of the USAFL Regional Championships Series, and the final leg of this year’s tour.  We were here for the 2017 Westerns and 2019 Centrals, and further in from all of those pointy things in the background, it’s one of the best fields we’ve played on.

Like Disco Lemonade - Previewing the Central Regionals

Water water everywhere, and not a drop to drink.  Though I do hear the skating is pretty good.

Ice hockey, curling, lakes, elongating the letter “o”, and lutefisk.  These are some of the things that Minnesota does right.  Though you might have to trust me on the lutefisk part because I’m staying a Tiger Warner torp away from fermented fish on a plate.

Kick Around and Find Out - Previewing the Eastern Regionals

Philadelphia is a city that was born from hard work.

It loves its industry.  It loves its sweat and its meddle.  We embrace winners, but if you give your all, we applaud you even if you don’t get the job done.  Aaron Rowand played just two seasons for the Phillies but the fact that he broke his nose running into a wall in pursuit of a fly ball against the Mets means he never has to shout drinks in this town.

After a three-year absence, American footy’s traveling road show is back.

The USAFL Regional Championship Series makes its return starting June 4th and will be proverbially rocking the suburbs of Philadelphia, the Twin Cities, and Denver this summer.

What's On Tap: May 21, 2022

The weather is getting warmer, and that must mean footy season is hotting up with it.

Sport Saved My Life Twice: The Story of Shawn Sadowski

The first time was Australian Rules Football and the second was Wheelchair Curling.

Meet Shawn “Boomer” Sadowski. Boomer found footy when he was 19. He was a troubled youth and footy kept him off the street and gave him his first group of mates. In 2014 Boom was in a car accident and woke up to find himself a paraplegic. His home therapist introduced him to the Olympic Curling Coach and after his first curl he “was hooked”. He had found his second group of mates.

That Was the Season That Was 2021

The beauty and the tyranny of playing a game with an oblong ball is that you never know how it’s gonna bounce.

Sometimes, it goes the way you want it to, leading to a magnificent goal or continuing a long thrilling run down the wing to set up a teammate.

Other times, however, it bounds away into nothing, causing absolute chaos in the process.

Austin Serves Up Home Cookin' for 6th Title

Austin is the home of some of the best food in the country, if not the universe.

And so, it’s pretty fitting that their footy club, the Crows, would make the most of their home cookin’, literal and metaphorical, during their home Nationals.

Wind and Weathering - Day 1 at the USAFL Nationals

The wild winds of Texas swept swiftly and certainly on Saturday at the 2021 USAFL Nationals.

A cool and blustery day that turned calm and warm, and then windy again, brought with it the ascension of new challengers and old heroes within striking distance of October glory.

It was a day of big wins, big comebacks, and an upset or two.  And it sets us up for an exciting Championship Sunday at the Onion Creek Soccer Complex in Austin.
