2009 49th Parallel Cup

A strong squad of players, including several Revolution veterans and many young and eager first timers, made the trip to Mason, Ohio, to take on the Canadian Northwind in the 49th Parallel Cup. This was the first game for the Revolution squad since the 2008 International Cup and it was exciting to watch the team gel together to defeat the Northwind by 50 points in the main game on August 1. It was equally as impressive watching the team back up this effort to again win the next day.

Canadian Pyke to make his 'crazy game' debut

Canadian, Mike Pyke prepares for his AFL Debut

The Canadian rugby international had played in Edinburgh for two years before joining French club side US Montauban, and so the move to Sydney did not seem unusual.

International footy shapes the Australian Football

The story of footy is about change. Except that it does not all come from the top, or from the centre.
In the words of Australian artist Paul Kelly’s song… ‘From little things big things grow’….
The way in which the game is played around the world, often involving smaller teams on smaller playing fields, and sometimes with some rule modifications, may shape the future of the game in Australia. And what better day to discuss the future of Australia's indigenous sport, with a global view, than Australia Day?
