European Championships - August 2010

Move over soccer, Australian Football is coming to Europe with eight teams from eight European nations to gather in Denmark and Sweden from August 1-7 in the inaugural 16-a-side European Championships in Australian Football 2010.

The New York Magpies hosted the first women's tournament of the 2010 season at on May 8. Three teams competed in the Big Apple for the first hit out of the year: the New York Magpies, the Toronto Central Blues, and the Reds, a fusion team comprised of players from Atlanta, Baltimore, Minnesota, Arizona, Milwaukee, and Denver. The tournament was a great success with tough tackling and determination at the ball under the hot sun in Yonkers, NY.

American Revolution v Canadian Northwind

July 31 2010, the American Revolution are scheduled to play the Canadian Northwind in Toronto, Canada, in the annual 49th Parallel Cup game. In 2009 the Revolution were victorious by 50 points and they will be looking to back this result up with gusto.

Calgary Women's Tournament

Calgary Kookaburras will be hosting a tournament on May 29 & 30. The details are still being sorted out but they are hopeful of playing at Banff National Park amongst the mountains.

2010 Freedom Academy

American Freedom National Team coach Wayne Kraska has announced the US Freedom Academy for 2010. The following players have announced their desire to play for the US Freedom in their match against the Canadian Northern Lights in Toronto on July 31.

The academy players will be hosting training camps/tryouts in conjunction with the tournaments in NY on May 15-16 and Denver on June 19-20. The squad that will represent the US against the Canadians will be selected after the Denver tournament.

Revolution Prepare for 2010


The international presence of Australian Rules Football continues to grow with the announcement of a World XVIII and Oceania team participating in the NAB AFL U/16 Championship in June of this year.
