Florida's First Official SEAFL Game

The 2nd Annual Australia Day battle between the Florida Redbacks and the Atlanta Kookaburras will take place at the Sarasota Polo Grounds at the corner of University Parkway and Lorraine Rd. in Sarasota on Saturday, January 24th, 2004. The two teams will battle for the Australia Day trophy which is currently held by the Kookaburras. Atlanta defeated the determined Redbacks in the first meeting between the two teams in January 2003 and the Redbacks are determined to get what they consider to be their trophy, back, in 2004.

2003 Turkey Bowl

Thanksgiving is traditionally a Football Holiday in these United States. We take it for granted that we will watch our favorite teams on the tube, feast on a big bird, and take a ball out to the local field to test out our reflexes. However, for golden Southern California the past few years have celebrated this tradition with a twist. We like to try new things out here, so after the US Footy Nationals we start looking forward to the Turkey Bowl an all-comers game of Australian Rules Football usually held in the Orange County area on the weekend before Thanksgiving.

Australia New Zealand American Chamber of Commerce President Jan McGrath invited the Hawks to be a part of the Zoo's grand opening weekend of the new Wallaby Walkabout exhibit.
