Australian Week 2004 Family Day Barbecue
After a great deal of work by the California Australian Football League (CAFL), the governing body of footy in the States - the United States Australian Football League (USAFL), and the Australian Consulate, we are extremely excited to announce the finalized details for the Australia Week 2004 Family Day BBQ on January 18 at UCLA.
The football will feature a women's match between the Valley Vandolls and the Orange County Bombshells, a junior's clinic will be conducted by USFootyKids Director Denis Ryan- with many school clinics planned in the lead up, and the Featured match will be between the California Bears and the American Revolution. The American Revolution is the representative team for the U.S. Australian Football League.
The Australian Consulate went to great lengths to include Australian Football into this event, and we are extremely excited to present our game at such a high profile event to the U.S. public.
There will be something for everyone at the Australian Week 2004 Family Day Barbecue, an outdoor festival that will feature live music, Australian-themed food, and with wine and gourmet food samples from Australian vendors. Best of all, this event is both free and open to the public, and families are welcome!
Entertainers include: Live music from Diana Rouvas (Aussie blues diva), Bananas in Pyjamas (stars of the very popular Australian childrens' TV series), and the Wadumbah Aboriginal Dance Group. Additionally, a LIVE KANGAROO will be in attendance!
The CAFL will be holding tryouts for the California Bears All-star team this coming Saturday at Heritage Park in Irvine at 11:00am. Please RSVP to Chris McNeil (chrismcneil64@hotmail.com) as soon as possible.
Mark this one on your calendars as you won't want to miss out.
