California Here We Come; Ontario to Host 2020 Nationals

The USAFL Executive Board is excited to announce that the 2020 USAFL National Championships will be held on the doorsteps of Los Angeles in Ontario, California the weekend of October 10 and 11.

The tournament will be held at Silverlakes in Norco, CA. Silverlakes 130-acre complex boasts 24 professionally manicured soccer fields, a full-service restaurant and a 10,000-person concert venue. The park opened in 2015 and is a premier sporting event destination having hosted soccer, rugby, American Football and the country’s largest cross-country event.

Four Honor and Glory; Maidens Outlast Field

It’s best to not question greatness.

We can scrutinize, analyze, and predict.  But it’s all about execution, and when push comes to shove, the cream rises to the top.

For the San Francisco Iron Maidens, they took the brunt of everything an incredibly potent Women’s Division 1 field had to give.   There were questions even on Sunday afternoon as to whether the juggernaut would last another year.

And still, they ended up lifting their fourth straight National Championship trophy on Sunday, October 13th at the Premier Sports Campus at Lakewood Ranch, Florida.

Make it Five For Austin As Crows Crow Again

At the beginning of this decade, it seemed neigh impossible that anyone would reach the heights that the Denver Bulldogs had during the last one.

Between 2000 and 2011, the Doggies had been to ten D1 Men’s Grand Finals and won eight.  They were the team of the USAFL’s first decade, and the gold standard in the league’s formative years.

Skills Competition Wows Crowd at Nationals

44 teams and nearly a thousand players gathered last weekend at the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, for the 2019 USAFL National Championships.  Over the course of Saturday and Sunday, eighty games whittled the field down to the six champions, who lifted the crown on Sunday evening.

Winning and Grinning - Day 2 at the USAFL Nationals

The heat was hot and the ground was dry, and when the dust had settled on the 23rd USAFL Nationals, there were new and old champions crowned at the Premier Sports Campus at Lakewood Ranch.

The Austin Crows and San Francisco Iron Maidens added another cup to their cupboards, while the Arizona Hawks and Boston Demons had rare doubles, winning both men’s and women’s championships.

2019 Nationals Preview - Womens Division 1 and 2

More and more women are playing Australian Rules Football.

And more importantly, the football they’re playing is getting better with each passing year.

For the first time in USAFL history, there will be not one, but two Grand Finals in the women’s divisions, with both competitions fielding six sides.  All told, 24 clubs will be represented in the Women’s Competition as a whole, the most ever.
