Captain Kirk's International Odyssey Reaches the U.S.A!
In January of this year, former Sydney Swan's Captain and 12 season AFL veteran Brett Kirk and his family of 6 embarked on a world wide tour to promote our great game of footy and the 2011 AFL International Cup.
Brett's journey so far has taken him to the far corners of the globe including New Zealand, Sri Lanka, India, South Africa, Israel, the UK, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Canada and next week, the U.S.!
He has been visiting and working with the National Teams from most of these nations including the Peace Team, Finland Icebreakers, Danish Vikings, AFL Italia women and the Croatian Knights.. who have made a very impressive home grown version of the popular 2008 AFL Ad, check it out »
During the visit to the U.S. Brett will be involved in a number of activities around the country with various USAFL Clubs. Activities include:
Sunday, June 12 - Arrive in New York
Tuesday, June 14 - Training with the New York Magpies
Wednesday, June 15 - "Aussie Fare for Freedom" with the New York Magpies at the Australian in Manhattan
Friday, June 16 - NYCAFL Round 2, Hoboken, NJ
Saturday, June 18 - Attending social mens and womens match in Boston, MA
Monday, June 20 - Muscular Dystrophy Association - Taste of Downunder, Manhattan
Friday, June 24 - Denver Bulldogs Fundraiser Evening
Saturday, June 25 - Denver Bulldogs Mile High Tournament, Denver, Colorado
Brett will be running a Coaches Clinic prior to the tournament which will be attended by the Denver Bulldogs and Minnesota Freeze as well as a number of USA Freedom players and coaching staff.
Monday, Jun 27 - From Denver Brett will travel to Arizona and then onto LA for a few days before heading home to Australia.
