International Cup Postponed, Update on USAFL Season

The Australian Football League has advised that the AFL International Cup, originally scheduled for July 21-August 8 in Sunshine Coast, Queensland, has been postponed until 2021 due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

USAFL Statement Regarding Coronavirus

As the 2020 season gets underway, the USAFL suggests taking precautionary measures regarding the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).  We are following the guidance of local, regional, and national health authorities.

Marshall Hanging Tough Through AFLW Midway Point

Last weekend saw round four of the AFLW season take place, which means we’re officially halfway through the home and away season, and also halfway through trailblazer Dani Marshall’s first season in the AFLW. Fiercer and Kinder - Remembering Pat Bilder

The passion of Australian rules football ran deep within Patrick Bilder’s veins.

For fifteen years, from Baton Rouge to New York, and then to South Florida, he proved himself  an exemplary teammate, a stalwart defender, a fun loving person, and just all around good human being.

He was also immensely intelligent, and devoted his life to the study and teaching of the sciences, where his work was nationally recognized.

Marshall Makes Most of AFLW Debut

Arizona Hawk and USA Freedom player Danielle Marshall made the most of her historic AFLW debut, scoring a goal with her first kick of senior football as the Western Bulldogs defeated the St Kilda Saints by 25 points.

Round One of the 2020 AFLW season saw a debut in the competition for St Kilda and return to their spiritual home at Moorabbin, but it was the Western Bulldogs who got their season off to the best start, winning by 25 points.

The Dusty Road to Darwin; Kloh Follows Her Football Passion

Rosemary Kloh’s second date with Rob Kwoka was life changing.

Rob had asked her to come along and watch his sister, Lauré, play in the USAFL Western Regional Championships for the Sacramento Suns.  

“I had no idea what was going on,” she recalls.  “I just cheered when Rob cheered.”

It was the beginning of two successful courtships.  Four and a half years after that date -- a couple of days after this past Christmas -- Rob popped the question, and Kloh replied in the affirmative.

USAFL Umpires Association Announces IC2020 Scholarship Winners

The USAFL Umpire Association is pleased to announce the International Cup 2020 Scholarship Umpires: Ryan Minmier and Shawn Farber. They will be going to the Suncoast in Queensland, Australia to represent the USAFL and the USAFLUA in IC2020 from July 25 through the grand finals on August 8.

2020 Australia Day and Bushfire Relief Events

Australia Day is celebrated each year on January 26th.  This year, it will feel quite different.

We have seen the images and heard the stories coming out of Australia with regards to the fires that have raged on for the past several months.  The toll it has taken – dozens of human lives, many homes, at least a billion animals, and what is sure to be a long lasting effect on the environment – has been stunningly tragic.

It has left us, as a community, asking what we can do to help.

2019 USAFL Roll of Honor

The completion of every USAFL season is a time of reflection, recovery, and celebration.

For each of the clubs in the league, there is always something to celebrate.  For some, it is an improvement in on- and/or off-field growth.  For others, the gallantries involve drinking out of a championship cup or two.  Many, if not all, are celebrated at pubs that have backed these clubs financially and spiritually, and it's a chance to return the favor.
