News from the Atlanta Kookaburras


The Kookaburras are pleased to announce the upcoming Atlanta Australian Rules Football League will commence games on Saturday September 23rd 2006.The league now simply known as the 'AARFL' will include the four men's teams from last year plus two women's teams playing games on Saturday mornings at Dekalb Memorial Park Atlanta.

Update on Frontier Hotel Bookings

We are delighted to advise that the Frontier Hotel and Casino (the USAFL's preferred hotel) have agreed to hold their current special Nationals room rate till September 1. Any rooms booked from September 1 will be charged at their normal - higher - price.

Second USFooty Kids Clinic a Great Success


I'm pleased to announce that we had twenty-two boys and girls aged 6 to 12 participate in the first two USFooty Kids to be held in Arlington, VA.  Looking at the smiles on the faces of the players, coaches and parents it seemed that everyone had a great time.

Seedings for 2006 Nationals

Division 1 will be decided in the following manner:




  1. The top 2 teams from the EAFL, MAAFL, and the Western Regionals (as determined by the format selected by the respective regional leagues, whether it be ladder results or tournament results) will take the first 6 places in this Division.


  2. The remaining 2 places will be taken by one team from both the Eastern United States and the Western United States, with the dividing line being the Mississippi River.

Teleconference for Clubs to Discuss Fund Raising

A teleconference has been scheduled for Tuesday, July 25 at 8pm CST. The purpose of the conference call is to start some dialog between USAFL clubs about what has worked for clubs and what has not with regard to fund raising and sponsorship opportunities.

Rory meets the West Coast Eagles


Rory and Westcoast Eagles Star, Chris Judd.


Eight year old Richmond supporter, Rory Matthews, was overwhelmed by Westcoast Eagles support last weekend at the MCG.


The Eagles heard of Rory's catapault to international fame when television and newspaper coverage stretched across the globe about his unusual training routine.

What a Training Partner!

Little Rory Matthews doesn't have any brothers or sisters to play footy with – so he trains with an alpaca, a dog, a pig and a cockatoo.


And they have turned the once-timid footballer into a tackling machine.


The energetic eight-year-old, who lives on The Children's Animal Farm at Tarneit in Victoria, trains every day with his animal friends.


"Chicky" the alpaca tackles Rory at every opportunity while border collie Jet retrieves the balls.
