But it wasn’t until 2003 that the first ever women’s match took place at the USAFL Nationals.  Granted, it was an exhibition played with the wrap rule (no tackling yet), but it was the first step.

Lookin' for better days, lookin' for better days.” - Jimmy Buffett

25th Anniversary Club Heritage Teams

At its very core the USAFL is a club-based organization and the clubs are the lifeblood of the league. We wanted a special way to celebrate the Leagues 25th Anniversary by recognizing those at the Club level that have made a special contribution.

We asked every club to nominate a Club Heritage Member who epitomizes the spirit of their club. Someone that has been instrumental in making your club what it is today. If the club has a men’s and women’s side your club has selected two Heritage members, one representing each team.

But there isn't quite anything like the AFL Grand Final.  Pageantry, tradition, buzz, you name it.  Every year since 1898 (barring 1924 for reasons you can google), the league champions have been decided by the one ultimate game.

Freedom and Revolution 25th Anniversary Teams

The top of the USAFL grassroots development pyramid is to be selected to represent your country. The USA is proud that our International Programs include a Men’s and Women’s team. For the men the USA Revolution is the ultimate goal. On the Women’s side we have the USA Freedom. Each team also has a Reserves team. In the case of the Women the team has been named the USA Liberty. This means, at any one time, we can have over 100 players in the International Program. To be a member of either team you must been born in America.
