Schwab Named Coaching Director

THE AFL has announced that Peter Schwab has been appointed as the new AFL Director of Coaching.

AFL General Manager National and International Development David Matthews said Schwab would commence his new role in the AFL’s Development Department in early December after he completed his duties as chief executive officer of AFL Victoria.

Wednesday, October 27, 2010 – The United States Australian Football League (USAFL) is pleased to welcome its 2011 Executive Board and Program Coordinators. During the 2010 Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Louisville, Kentucky four new board members were voted in.

“I’d really like to thank the outgoing board members for all their hard work and dedication to the league,” said Rich Mann, USAFL President, “particularly long time board member Matt Jagger who has been on the board since 2006 as Secretary and will continue to contribute through his role as Team Manager with the USA Revolution squad”.

Are Magpies taking over the world?

Skipper of the Collingwood Magpies, Nick Maxwell just happened to be vacationing in New York recently and was spotted in a bar by the New York Magpies Ruckman.

The win for both the New York and Collingwood Magpies seems to have strengthened the bond between the two clubs and will continue to do so in 2011. New York are getting plenty of support from downunder.

The (2) New York Magpies won their first ever USAFL National Championship after beating 7-time champions the (1) Denver Bulldogs 4.4 (28) to 1.1 (7). The Magpies got to the final after taking care of the (8) Golden Gate Roos in their last game of the round robin portion of the tournament.

Louisville, Kentucky, October 5, 2010 - The United States Australian Football League will bring its 2010 National Tournament to Louisville, Kentucky over the weekend of October 9-10. The popular event is the biggest Australian Football tournament anywhere in the world, and attracts more than 1,000 players, officials and coaching staff, with a total of 32 men’s teams spread across four divisions, as well as 6 women’s teams representing over a dozen cities across the USA and Canada.

We are pleased to note that a record number of teams are playing at Nationals this year. Unfortunately, this makes our task even more difficult, and will inevitably lead to some disappointment. As always, this has been a difficult task, especially given the complexity inherent in a national competition (e.g., trying to compare teams that never played each other during the season, or did not play many or any games during the season).

Saints and Pies to return to the MCG next Saturday for AFL Grand Final re-match!

THE 2010 AFL premiership remains undecided after Collingwood and St Kilda fought out only the third grand final draw in AFL/VFL history.

Attention American Footy Fans! The American Aussie Rules television program 'Stateside Footy' is looking for footage from YOUR AFL Grand Final Parties. I am looking to get as much footage as I can to put together a 'Virtual American Grand Final Party'. I am asking for volunteers across the country to shoot some video footage at their respective Grand Final parties.
