Revolution Training Camp 2013

The USA Revolution, the men's national team, are currently planning a training camp to be held in Los Angeles over the weekend of March 9-10.

The purpose of the training camp is to select and prepare a squad to play against Canada in the 49th Parallel Cup, to be held in Canada on August 3.

What's In Store For 2013?

The USAFL Board met over the weekend of January 12-13 in Austin, Texas for the Board's Annual Planning Meeting. A large number of topics were discussed and debated. The final outcomes will be communicated and implemented over coming months. A brief outline of the main accomplishments include:

AFL Affiliation

The AFL International Affiliate Agreement, which is in place through 2016 was reviewed and accepted as well as the 2013 AFL Grant Conditions and the 2012 Financial Report, which will be submitted to the AFL on February 1 as part of the 2012 Annual Report.

Now Accepting: 2013 National Tournament Director Applications

The USAFL contracts an event organizer annually who is responsible for organizing all aspects of the USAFL National Tournament. Interested applicants may now apply. Applications will be accepted up until Thursday, December 31.

The USAFL would like to thank Rich Mann for his 11 years of service to the league in organizing the National tournament. No doubt it is a great event because of his vision and hard work. While we will miss his involvement, we certainly understand the desire to focus on family and his decision for stepping down.

2013 USA Freedom Captain Announced

The USA Freedom coaching staff are extremely pleased to announce that Eileen Geoghegan of the Baltimore-Washington Eagles has been appointed as the new Captain of the USA Freedom women's national team.

At the 2012 49th Parallel Cup, it was announced that the reigning USA Freedom Captain, Judith Stein would be stepping down from the captaincy after 2 years at the reins. Judith was named 'Captain of the World' at the 2011 International Cup in Melbourne and her most recent efforts led the team to a momentous win over Canada at the 2012 49th Parallel Cup. Judith will continue to be a valued part of the playing squad with the Freedom in 2012.

Revolution Treated Like Saints

A group of USA Revolution players and coaches joined the St Kilda Saints in their 2013 high altitude preseason training camp December 1-2 at the University of Colorado Boulder.

Before taking the field Saturday morning, Saints Coach Scott Watters addressed the Revolution players and coaches, welcoming them to the training camp. The Revolution players then joined Saints players in team warm-ups, mingling with the likes of Lenny Hayes, Nick Riewoldt, Justin Koschitzke, Nick Dal Santo, and Leigh Montagna.
