2011 USAFL Nationals Club Registration Now Open

2011 USAFL Nationals

Club registrations for the 2011 Nationals in Austin, TX, October 7 - 9 is now open.  Club Presidents were sent the registration form earlier today.  The form is to be completed and submitted by Friday, August 5 by 5pm CST.   If you have any questions contact Operations Manager, Doren James at operations@usafl.com.

Jackaroos Triumph at Cincinnati

Fairfield, OH - In the sweltering Cincinnati heat, up against MAAFL foes, and with a chip on their shoulders - the blokes from Columbus traveled strong and came down with something to prove. The first match pitted them against the Milwaukee Bombers who had traveled light, and were further hurt when a player needed medical attention after a bee sting alergic reaction. Reserves and newcomers from Ohio Valley and Columbus admirably plugged the gaps to give them a spirited fighting squad on the pitch.

Columbus' core, now fourth year veterans, along with promising first-year players played with experience and confidence under Coach Fisher's leadership. Jumping, and marking, to early leads they were strong out of the gates.

Enter the Dragons

LA DragonsThis weekend marks the return of Australian Football to Los Angeles, with the Los Angeles Dragons taking on the San Diego Lions on Saturday at Balboa Park in Encino. The recently formed Dragons have grown out of the desire and demand for a primarily LA based 18a-side team, with upwards of 40 players expressing their interest and commitment to the establishment of the Dragons. 

“This is a fantastic day for the growth and evolution of footy in Southern California” said former SCAFL President Corey Irwin. “Los Angeles is one of the greatest cities in the world, with a rich sporting history in both pro and amateur sports. Looking at the talented roster of American and Australian players the Dragons have, I fully expect them to be highly competitive in the national competition”.

USAFL Proud to Announce Second Umpire Scholar at International Cup 2011

The USAFL develops Aussie Rules in the USA not just by promoting playing of the sport across the country - it actively promotes umpire accreditation too. Umpiring? Yes! After all, you can't have a game without umpires. From early on, promotion of umpires has been a priority, with hosting of umpire clinics as early as 2000 and the USA was the first ever country to send an umpire to the International Cup in 2002.

Dublin to Host USAFL National Championships

The Dublin Convention & Visitors Bureau announced tonight at the Dublin City Council Meeting that it has secured the 2013 or 2014 United States Australian Rules Football National Championship and the 2012 49th Parallel Cup. Both events will attract participants from across the world and generate a total economic impact of nearly $2 million for the City of Dublin.

In 2012 the USAFL Nationals will Return to Mason, Ohio

2009 Nationals

The USAFL Nationals will return to Mason, Ohio in 2012 following the very successful 2009 Mason Nationals.  "Warren County, Ohio and the City of Mason are thrilled to once again host the celebration of Australian Culture that is the USAFL Nationals," said Ben Huffman, Sports Director for the Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau, "hosting the event in 2009, the community saw not only an economic benefit, but a social one as well.  The residents of Mason truly enjoyed the wonderful event and are looking forward to having these great athletes back in our community in 2012!" he continued.
