Combine Records Set Again

Towering American Mason Cox will head to Australia later this month to be trialed by four AFL clubs interested in signing him as an international rookie.

Cox, who at 211.4cm is the tallest player ever tested by the AFL in Australia or overseas, was a standout at last month's USA Combine at Los Angeles.

His speed, agility and ball-handling impressed onlookers, so much so that he will travel to Australia and take another important step towards joining an AFL list.

Third AFL US Combine Underway in LA

The third annual AFL US Combine is being held in Los Angles, California this weekend. 20 athletes from across the US will be given a crash course in footy and put through tests and learn the basic skills required to play Australian Football.

Recruiters from a number of AFL Clubs will be present over the weekend looking for the next Eric Wallace, Jason Holmes or Patrick Mitchell. The athletes come primarily from basketball backgrounds and have been selected for their size, age and athletic abilities.

USA Revolution Squad Named For AFL International Cup

The USA Revolution squad has been selected for the 2014 AFL International Cup (IC) to be held in Melbourne, Australia, from August 9-23.

A squad of 24 players, along with 4 emergency players, has been named to tackle teams from all over the globe and they will be looking to go one step further than they did in 2011 and that is to make the grand final of the competition. Footy players far and wide dream of playing a final on the Melbourne Cricket Ground (M.C.G.) and the Revolution will do everything in their power to make this a reality.

Mouthguards Making an Impact on the USAFL

The USAFL is pleased to announce a sponsorship agreement has been reached with Impact Mouthguards. As part of the deal, USAFL players will receive a 10% discount on all mouthguards ordered. In addition to supporting the league Impact will also provide mouthguards to the Revolution and Freedom as they represent the league and country at this year’s International Cup.

Revolution Focus on Operation M.C.G.

The Revolution are ready to move their focus toward the AFL International Cup after a very productive training camp in Austin, TX, last weekend.

The entire purpose of the training camp was to simulate the process around each match day that the team will experience six times in Australia over a two-week period, August 9-23, including the routine required for preparation and the post-match review.

I recently had the pleasure to attend the inaugural Craig Ruggles Cup in Houston between the Baton Rouge Tigers and the Houston Lonestars. With the Cup being played in honor of the late Craig Ruggles of the Houston Lonestars, who tragically passed away not long after the 2013 USAFL Nationals, it was without question an emotional day.

Revolution Ready to Roll

The USA Revolution, the men’s national Australian football team, will descend upon Austin, TX, for their annual training camp next Friday to prepare for the 2014 AFL International Cup.

Thirty-three of America’s finest Australian Rules Football players (see squad list below) will use every possible minute over the weekend of April 4-6 to practice and implement their game plan that has evolved over the last three years.

2014 AFL US Combine

The third US Australian Football League (AFL) Combine will take place in Los Angeles on April 25 - 27 with the hope of discovering the next American athletes who have the potential to succeed at the highest level in AFL football. The previous combines, held over the last 2 years, have led to three former college basketball players signing with AFL clubs in Australia, Eric Wallace with the North Melbourne Kangaroos in 2012, Patrick Mitchell with the Sydney Swans and Jason Holmes with the Saint Kilda Saints, both in 2013.
