MHz Networks Launch AFL Channel on Roku

MHz Networks announced today that they have launched an AFL channel on Roku.

The Rising of the Sacramento Suns

The Sacramento Australian Football Club (SAFC) is pleased to announce that the men’s and women’s representative teams are now officially named the Sacramento Suns.

The SAFC is excited that the club will now boast both a men’s and women’s, nicknamed the Lady Suns, representative team that will participate in the 2012 USAFL National Tournament to be held in Mason, OH, during the weekend of October 13-14.

The Suns and Lady Suns first official games will be against the Las Vegas Gamblers and the Arizona Lady Hawks, respectively, in Las Vegas on July 28.

Join the Magpies Women's Campaign to Tackle Violence

The New York Magpies are joining the Center for Anti-Violence Education (CAE) in Brooklyn, New York to raise awareness about violence and build stronger communities through our participation in the 2012 Punch-a-thon. On June 3, 2012, the Lady Pies will punch 1,000 punches representing confidence and empowerment for all survivors of violence.

Houston Lonestars New Kit Proves Worthy

The Lonestars finally unveiled the long awaited strip and it looks fantastic! Our first run with the new kit saw only 8 players make the journey to play against Baton Rouge. While  small in numbers  – we were big on effort  to win a hard fought contest against the Tigers in a 10 a side match. The storms stayed away which meant perfect conditions for footy and Clark Park was in excellent condition.  The Lonestars got off to a great start kicking into the wind and played strong  contested footy all around the ground. The match was close all day and after taking a 3 goal lead

Two US Representatives Selected for World XVIII Team

The USAFL is pleased to announce that two players have been selected to the AFL’s World XVIII team that will compete in the NAB AFL U16 National Championships which will be held in Sydney, Australia July 7 - 14.  Nolan Ellis, of Denver and Brandon Heicklen, of Los Angeles will be competing on a team made up of some of the best young talent from around the world against some of the top talent from across Australia.  This opportunity has been several years in the making for both athletes.

Milwaukee's Heather O'Keeffe Gives an Update from Queensland

They say that those who cannot play coach; that is what I have found myself doing on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia and not because my skills are inferior.

My dad is a founding member of the USAFL and by default I have grown up around footy. For as long as I can remember I have been watching footy in the park, and I probably learned to handball before I learned to throw a spiral.

USAFL Presents 5 Year Strategic Plan to the AFL

AFL International Manager, Tony Woods visited the US at the end of April  for the second time since stepping into the role two years ago.  The occasion marked a significant opportunity for the USAFL to present a five year strategic plan in line with the AFL’s overall international goals.  USAFL representatives President, Andy Vanica, Treasurer, Adam Coleman, Vice-President Central, Dan Sarbacker and Operations Manager Doren James met with Woods in Chicago and gave an overview of the plan that will guide the USAFL’s development over the next five years.

Freedom to Visit Minnesota

OPEN TO ALL INTERESTED PARTICIPANTS – Each year, players from across the nation come to training camp in hopes of earning a spot on the USA Freedom squad. This year, the Freedom training camp will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 15-17. The team will be preparing for the August 4 game against Canada in the 2012 49th Parallel Cup.

USAFL & Down Under Fest to Host 2nd Umpire Clinic

This Memorial Day Weekend, May 25-28, in Cumming, Georgia while the Down Under Festival is promoting everything Australia, the USAFL will conduct the second Umpire Clinic of 2012, in conjunction with the DUFFA Cup Carnival.

The Umpire Clinic is designed for all levels of umpires, from those who are just starting out through to experienced umpires who are working towards accreditation. In addition to classroom time and field time, all attendees will have multiple opportunities to umpire games during the festival and receive feedback and coaching.
