Seeking USAFL Footage

The USAFL Board recently decided to commission the creation of two promotional videos to be used to promote the League. The videos will be design to introduce viewers to the multitude of reasons why we all play this great game. The USAFL hopes to portray as many teams throughout the league as possible and accurately reflect the genuine excitement of the sport and thrilling passion for the game shared throughout the USAFL community.

USAFL Webmaster Position 2013

In 2013 the USAFL will be contracting a webmaster to look after developments and upgrades to the USAFL website and the League's overall information technology infrastructure. Interested candidates may download the position description.

Applications are due February 15 and may be submitted to USAFL President, Andy Vanica (president@usafl.com). Any questions may also be directed to Andy.

Happy Australia Day!

The USAFL would like to wish everyone a Happy Australia Day 2013!  Clubs across the country will be celebrating this weekend with shrimp on the barbie, games of cricket and of course a cold beverage or two. Please enjoy yourself, have a safe weekend and enjoy Australia's birthday in true Aussie spirit!

What's In Store For 2013?

The USAFL Board met over the weekend of January 12-13 in Austin, Texas for the Board's Annual Planning Meeting. A large number of topics were discussed and debated. The final outcomes will be communicated and implemented over coming months. A brief outline of the main accomplishments include:

AFL Affiliation

The AFL International Affiliate Agreement, which is in place through 2016 was reviewed and accepted as well as the 2013 AFL Grant Conditions and the 2012 Financial Report, which will be submitted to the AFL on February 1 as part of the 2012 Annual Report.

Saints Open Door to Revolution

Several USA Revolution players will join Australian Football (AFL) club St Kilda (the Saints) in their high altitude training camp in Boulder, Colorado this weekend after the team’s arrival on Tuesday. USA Revolution Coach Matt Bishop is pleased that his players will finally have the chance to be involved in an AFL camp being undertaken in the United States.

Healthier men, one moustache at a time

We have almost reached the end of Movember and some of the USAFL lads are looking very swish in with their fancy facial hair.  Check out the story behind Movember and how it all started back in 2003 in the Melbourne backyard of Adam Garone.

Super Storm Sandy is Not Old News

On this Thanksgiving week, in the US and around the world, we would like encourage you to take a moment to think of those who were affected by Hurricane Sandy. Even though it is weeks after the devastating storm hit the Northeast Coast of the US are still cleaning up and trying to recover from this unprecedented event. New York was one of the worst hit areas and a number of members the New York Magpies were greatly affected by the tragedy with several veteran players losing their homes and having to relocate.

2012 Honors & Awards

In its 15th year the United States Australian Football League recognized a number of outstanding individuals who have contributed to the growth and development of Australian Football here in the USA.

First, a great honor was bestowed upon two of the League’s legends in Rich Mann and Denis Ryan. They both were inducted into the USAFL’s Hall of Fame at the Welcome Function on Friday, October 12. Only one other individual has ever been inducted into the Hall of Fame, the League’s founder, Paul “Plugger” O’Keeffe.
