SACKED Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy yesterday confirmed he would miss the club's best-and-fairest event next month as he seeks to make a clean break from the Bombers.

Club officials hoped to convince Sheedy to attend the sold-out awards dinner at Crown Palladium on October 3, with chief executive Peter Jackson last week saying he would like the Essendon icon to be there.

Atlanta celebrate 10 years of footy

The USAFL is celebrating ten years of footy this year and has requested all clubs submit a "team of the decade" in celebration. The Atlanta Kookaburras were first brought together by Mike Powers in 1998 and since that time have played over 100 games of Australian Rules Football in Atlanta and around the country in many different cities.

The club has a proud and distinguished history already with players representing the USA in Australia tours as well as playing host to the USAFL National Championships in October of 2004.
