The Lonestars finally unveiled the long awaited strip and it looks fantastic! Our first run with the new kit saw only 8 players make the journey to play against Baton Rouge. While small in numbers – we were big on effort to win a hard fought contest against the Tigers in a 10 a side match. The storms stayed away which meant perfect conditions for footy and Clark Park was in excellent condition. The Lonestars got off to a great start kicking into the wind and played strong contested footy all around the ground. The match was close all day and after taking a 3 goal lead

The USAFL is pleased to announce that two players have been selected to the AFL’s World XVIII team that will compete in the NAB AFL U16 National Championships which will be held in Sydney, Australia July 7 - 14. Nolan Ellis, of Denver and Brandon Heicklen, of Los Angeles will be competing on a team made up of some of the best young talent from around the world against some of the top talent from across Australia. This opportunity has been several years in the making for both athletes.

They say that those who cannot play coach; that is what I have found myself doing on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia and not because my skills are inferior.
My dad is a founding member of the USAFL and by default I have grown up around footy. For as long as I can remember I have been watching footy in the park, and I probably learned to handball before I learned to throw a spiral.

AFL International Manager, Tony Woods visited the US at the end of April for the second time since stepping into the role two years ago. The occasion marked a significant opportunity for the USAFL to present a five year strategic plan in line with the AFL’s overall international goals. USAFL representatives President, Andy Vanica, Treasurer, Adam Coleman, Vice-President Central, Dan Sarbacker and Operations Manager Doren James met with Woods in Chicago and gave an overview of the plan that will guide the USAFL’s development over the next five years.

OPEN TO ALL INTERESTED PARTICIPANTS – Each year, players from across the nation come to training camp in hopes of earning a spot on the USA Freedom squad. This year, the Freedom training camp will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 15-17. The team will be preparing for the August 4 game against Canada in the 2012 49th Parallel Cup.
Interested players should contact Head Coach, Leigh Barnes to express their interest.
