NOTE: This article has been updated with the new game schedule released on 6/5/16, as well as the live stream link.

Though the state of Indiana has long been known as a basketball powerhouse and the home of the largest auto race in the world, time has brought new sporting interests to the Hoosier state.  Football, soccer, Gaelic football and cricket have all gained popularity in one of the country’s fastest growing cities.

Austin Still on Top, Upsets Cause Mass Scramble

So it seems that I included a Game of Thrones spoiler in my first poll recap of the season last week.  Of course, I was under the impression that it was common knowledge, much like the fact that the Austin Crows were going to be the unanimous #1 ranked team to begin 2016.

For that, I apologize, and I’ll try not to do it again.

Magpies, Demons, Jills Head North of the Border

The opening chapter of the story that was New York Magpies’ 2015 season was written on a muddy, rough patch of field in downtown Montreal nearly 365 days ago.

On that day, the ‘Pies brought their brooms with them, and they swept aside four tough Canadian club sides to become the first American team to win the AFL Quebec Women’s tournament.  It was the first indication of a season that would turn out to the best in club history.

Revos to Host Three Summer Camps

It’s every athlete’s dream to represent their country at their sport’s highest level.

A great number of hopefuls have put their hand up for spots on the USA Revolution national team ahead of the AFL International Cup next year in Melbourne.  Coach Tom Ellis and his staff have the task of whittling down that group down to form the team that will go in search of the world footballing title.

Austin Begins 2016 on Top of First Poll

This has been a week of unsurprising revelations.

Jon Snow came back to life, Ted Cruz proved to be the most awkward man in America, and the Austin Crows were voted as the #1 team in the country in the first USAFL Top 20 Poll.

Our panelists had little hesitation about this decision, as the Crows swept all nine first place votes to attain a perfect score of 180 points.  The same occurred in the first poll last year, when the New York Magpies accrued the same score months after lifting their second John Harrell Cup in their own right.

ANZAC Day Commemorations 2016

101 years ago, the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, better known as the ANZACs, fought against enemy forces in the Battle of Gallipoli.  The bravery and sacrifice of the men who fought that battle in 1915, and every man and woman who has served afterwards, are remembered and commemorated every April 25th.

2016 Season Preview - Women's West

We all know that the sun sets in the West, the last rays of each day reflecting off the carmine hued boulders of the Rocky Mountains, through the orange and cool colors of the desert and into the navy blue expanse of the Pacific.

From a women's footy standpoint, however, the day has been long and everlasting.  The brightest point being the Denver Bulldogs, who have come out on top in each of the last six Nationals.  But the pack that is chasing the top dogs is led from out West, with two clubs in the northern part of the great Californian republic nipping at their heels.

Kickin' with Klatt: The One at the SCG

As I sit here on my 14 hour flight back home, listening to Spotify and trying to get some sleep, it all keeps running through my mind. With sore muscles serving as a constant reminder that I just played an entire game of footy with no rest the day before, it's hard not to keep thinking about it. Add to that the fact that I just played on the historic Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in front of what got up to an estimated 6,000 people before the GWS Giants and the Sydney Swans took the field, and you can see why it's all still racing through my mind.

2016 Season Preview - Men's West

It's no secret that the balance of power in the USAFL has shifted to the West Coast over the last half decade.  In fact, a total 26 Division 1 and Division 2 Grand Finals since Nationals began have featured at least one team from this West Region.

Klatt, Hemenway Carry American Hopes into SCG Clash

Roughly a half century ago, several astronauts walked on the moon and called it “a giant leap for mankind.”

Sydney, Australia, may as well be as far away as the moon.  And the surface of the Sydney Cricket Ground may very well be as hallowed and non-descript as that as our closest satellite rock.

And yet, when Kim Hemenway and Katie Klatt step onto the pitch this Friday night (US time), they will be making a leap of their own.  Not just for American Aussie Rules, but for all of women’s sports.

2016 Season Preview - Men's Central South

Texans like to think they're the center of the universe.  They're like New Yorkers in that respect, except they make better food.

With three teams among the top ten in the country, Texas can make an argument about being the center of the footy world, at least in the USAFL.  With national champions Austin, resurgent Dallas, and burgeoning Houston, there is plenty of top flight footy in the Lone Star State.
