The Lowdown on the Gotham City Get Down

Erin takes a mark

The New York Magpies hosted the first women's tournament of the 2010 season at on May 8. Three teams competed in the Big Apple for the first hit out of the year: the New York Magpies, the Toronto Central Blues, and the Reds, a fusion team comprised of players from Atlanta, Baltimore, Minnesota, Arizona, Milwaukee, and Denver. The tournament was a great success with tough tackling and determination at the ball under the hot sun in Yonkers, NY.

May 22 Tournament in Austin

Austin TX The Dallas Magpies went 2 for 2 on the weekend and produced one of their biggest wins in the club’s 10 year history, defeating a strong travelling New York Magpies by 19 points at Stassney field in Austin.

Internationals can access the live streaming of matches offered through Telstra/Omnisport.

American Revolution Squads Named

July 31 2010, the American Revolution are scheduled to play the Canadian Northwind in Toronto, Canada, in the annual 49th Parallel Cup game. In 2009 the Revolution were victorious by 50 points and they will be looking to back this result up with gusto.

A full day of Australian Football is planned for Toronto with the Boston Demons travelling up to play the Ontario Awfuls and the women's national team, the American Freedom, will be taking on the Canadian Northern Lights.

Are you the next American Footy Star?

The Australian Consulate General's residence in Brentwood, CA, was the scene for the red-carpet launch of the American Footy Star concept on Saturday night, May 8.

Acting and sporting celebrities were on hand to learn a little more about the unique game of Australian Football and the goal of this exciting program. Successful FIFA talent scout and agent, Miro Gladovich, is determined to create a channel to identify new Australian football recruits in the United States. The intention is to host talent scouting combines, the first of which will be in Dallas in the summer of 2010.

Columbus, OH – On a beautiful sunny spring day, seven lucky women came out to be a part of the first ever women's Aussie Rules practice/social/meeting ever in Ohio. Jamie, Tonya, Kristi, Sara, Megan(not pictured), Julie and Stefanie wrote themelves into future footy lore as the inaugural core that can say they will have literally been there from the beginning.

American Footy Star Article

The AFL and a top Australian sports agent have embarked on an ambitious plan to find young American athletes capable of playing in the AFL.

The first of a series of trials in the US will be held in Dallas in August, with organisers hoping 5000 Americans will show up for a shot at an AFL career.

Earlier this week AFL Development launched a new community club website aimed at providing resources to all levels of Australian football clubs. The site features videos, articles, drills, skills, pathways to coaching and umpiring accreditation and many other great resources.
