USAFL Top 20 Poll VI: Here Come the Crows...

Here come the Austin Crows.

Three games in the wind and rain of Wisconsin saw them huff, and puff, and blow down the competition.  They pushed and clawed their way past New York – on the field and on the ladder -- into the #2 spot on the Top 20 poll, but would fall just one point short of overtaking top-ranked Orange County.

From Sacto to the 'Gong: Kwoka's "Life Changing" Footy Journey

With her flowing red locks, her long strides, and booming kicks, Lauré Kwoka is easily recognizable on the footy field.  She has become a fixture in the midfield for the Sacramento Lady Suns, and her enthusiasm for the game has helped her become a better player in just three seasons of play.

She stands out equally off the field too; gregarious, passionate, and with an almost permanent smile on her face.  It’s what has made her a fantastic teammate, and an ambassador for the game at home and abroad.

Both the Austin Crows and Dallas Magpies entered Saturday’s Central Regional in Racine with the intention of staking their claim as threats in Division 1 at the National Championships.  Both Texas sides proved their point, and took home championship cups to boot.

Hello Wisconsin! - Pregaming the Central Regional Tournanment

Middle America has been the hotbed of Australian Football in this country since the very beginning.  Its teams and players, much like the land itself, have grown and expanded over the years, with new clubs sprouting up and older ones continuing to thrive.

Two massive tournaments took place prior to the 4th of July weekend, featuring six of the top 11 teams in the country, in addition to games scattered across the landscape.

After all of that footy under the intense heat of late June, the net gain was one team moving two rungs up the ladder, with two others sliding up one spot.  The Orange County Bombers, winners of the Western Regionals, remained in the top spot for the fourth poll in a row, taking top votes from seven of the nine panelists.
