AARFL 2014 Season Underway

Atlanta's local AARFL 2014 season kicked off on Saturday, March 8, at Garrard Landing Park in Roswell. Fine sunny conditions greeted past and new players alike. It was Midtown v Roswell/Western Combine and scoring was plentiful early on with Midtown showing the ascendency. With Carson Olsheski rucking in the middle the Bombers dominated center bounces with Josh Trombley capitalizing many tap outs whilst for Roswell, veteran Wayne Kraska was able to shark a couple.

The backlines were solid for both teams with Curtis Jones and Travis Quigley back in Atlanta, shoring up things for Midtown and Justin Willmott and Mike Frost doing the same for Roswell. At the main break however Roswell had stuck their noses in front on the scoreboard leading 4.5.29 to Midtown 4.2.26.

The third quater saw Midtown get back on top, with Carson Olsheski not only rucking well but kicking goals as well. First gamer George Andrews was chipping in with a few goals as well and all looked to be going the Bombers way leading by 10 points at the 3/4 time break.

The last quarter was great game, with both teams scoring freely, it was Roswell though with 5 goals to 2 that would lead at the final siren. Another first timer Jack O'Neill contributing 3 handy goals as the Roos/Dogs combine ran out winners by 9 points.

Next week it is Midtown again out there facing Western/Roswell.
