Madison Mid-West Tournament Results
The Milwaukee Bombers hosted the second Madison Australian Football Invitational on July 21. The day was a great success with a high standard of football and competitive matches played throughout.
This year's tournament featured seven teams from across the Midwest and two women's matches with players from Minnesota, Columbus and Milwaukee. Participating men's teams included the Chicago Swans, Kansas City Power, Minnesota Freeze and the Columbus Jackaroos in the 18 a side pool.
The Freeze took home their second title in as many years, winning all three of their matches. In the 12 a side pool it was the Des Moines Roosters, Ohio Valley River Rats and the Milwaukee Bombers. Ohio Valley won both their matches to claim the title, see all scores below.
Check out some tournament footage and an interview with Revolution Captain, Dan Sarbacker here.
The USAFL's third umpire clinic of the year was also held during the weekend. Umpire Director, Jeff Persson led the clinic which began with a classroom session on the Friday night then followed with a Saturday morning practical session at the fields. Several new umpires got the chance to officiate their first games and received coaching from Persson throughout the day. Persson is to be commended for his efforts as this format has allowed new umpires a chance to gain valuable experience and receive immediate feedback.
