Second International Team to play in 2010 NAB AFL Under 16 Championships

The AFL today announced a second international team will be entered in the 2010 NAB AFL Under 16 Championships. While the introduction of a World XVIII team was announced in October, the AFL considers the interest and potential is significant enough to enter a separate Pacific Nations team.

AFL General Manager of Development David Matthews said several factors had led to immediately enlarging the AFL's search for international talent including:

Change of scenery for aspiring WAFL trio

Claremont have taken left-field recruiting to another level by adding a former AFL boundary umpire, a former professional tennis player and a former US college footballer to their pre-season training squad.

Haden Martin, Harrison Keyser and Zach Johns wouldn't have even been on the radar of suburban clubs, but they all contacted Claremont and asked if they could try their luck over summer.

The women's division trophy from the U.S. Australian Rules Football national championship resides in Wisconsin. Earlier this month, the Milwaukee Lady Bombers won the eight-team tournament, beating the Calgary Blue team, 8.3 (51)-1.5 (11), in the championship game. Thomas, of West Allis, who won the Goff Cann Medal for MVP of the final, tried to explain "footy" to the Journal Sentinel's Dave Kallmann, who was lost from the opening ruck.

Registration Fee increase to $75

The online player registration system is now up and running for the 2009 season.
We apologize for the delay.

ALL players need to register and agree to the waiver PRIOR to playing any game for their club. We know clubs have already started and with the system not working earlier that would be impractical to adopt and impossible to enforce this year. Players are required to at least sign a hard copy waiver before playing any game to be covered under the League’s Liability Insurance program.

Registrations, Waivers and Proof of Nationality

For all players who registered by mail if you have not submitted a manual registration form and waiver you are NOT registered. This must be done immediately or you may risk not playing at Nationals.

Also, there will be very long lines at Nationals check in this year because only about 200 players out of 1000 have provided proof of Nationality. If you want to avoid long lines please submit proof of Nationality, the two forms of proof that will be excepted is a) copy of passport photo page (showing place of birth) or b) a birth certificate and photo id.
