Bombers Fly, Suns Shine, Maidens Reign at Western Regionals

Davis, CA -- 15 games were played over the course of nine hours under a broiling California sun on the outskirts of Sacramento this past Saturday.

When all was said and done, the #1 ranked team in the country repeated as regional champs, the hometown Suns earned some well-deserved hardware, and the San Francisco Iron Maidens asserted themselves as favorites to reach a third straight chance for a National Championship.

Introducing the USA Revolution Coaching Staff

I am pleased to announce the new coaching staff for the USA National Australian Rules Football Team, The American Revolution. 

This coaching staff includes 5 past Revolution players.   I am excited to have them on board to help grow this great sport in the USA.  I look forward to having them work with the next generation of American players to go where we have never gone before.

Capitol Thinking - Previewing the Western Regional Tournament

The balance of power has shifted to the Western region of the USAFL, a movement that accentuated itself last season when all five competitive divisions last year saw at least one team from the Left Coast participate their respective Grand Finals.

USAFL Top 20 Poll IV: Upsets Upheave Pack

Thanks to the Memorial Day holiday, our last poll was published on a Friday as opposed to the usual Wednesday.

And so it is by that happenstance that 24 hours after that poll came out back on May 29th, that three teams pulled off significant upsets, proving our expert panel wrong.

Talented Triumvirate Leads USA Freedom Forward

A new day dawns for the USA Freedom women, and with it, a new set of faces to lead them into the future.

The three women who make up the national team’s leadership group are a microchasm of the squad itself.  Each comes from the three regions of the USAFL, East, Central, and West.  There is a mixture of experience and youth, and all three have backgrounds in different sports.

"Saturday Morning Footy" Youth Program Turns 10

Saturday June 13 marks the beginning of the tenth season of Washington DC’s youth Australian football program, Saturday Morning Footy. My wife, Deena Ackerman, and I began the program when our son was 6. We hoped that through the program he would learn to play and love the game of Australian football.

USA Freedom and Liberty Rosters Named for Parallel Cup

The women who will don the red, white, and blue and take on the Canadian national sides at the 49th Parallel Cup in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, have been announced.  In all, 47 players, representing eight USAFL clubs, will make up the USA Freedom national team, and the USA Liberty development team.

USAFL Top 20 Poll III: Top Five Stay, Calgary Gains

After a volatile second poll that saw teams bounce around the rankings like a three-year-old child on a moon bounce, the third USAFL poll saw was much more lucid.  Top five teams stayed intact, the Orange County Bombers garnered more support from the panel in their claim to be the best team in the country, while several other clubs made small, but important moves up the ladder.

Ft Lauderdale to Host 2015 49th Parallel Cup Matches

A new road ahead of a new International Cup lies in waiting.  And it begins in sunny Florida with an all too familiar rivalry.

The 2015 edition of the 49th Parallel Cup, featuring a series of international test matches between the USA and Canada, will be held July 31st and August 1st at beautiful Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Denver's Ellis Takes the Reigns of USA Revolution

He's been a champion and an ambassador at the national level.  Now, Tom Ellis will lead his nation on the road to International Cup 2017.

The USAFL is pleased to announce that Ellis has been named the new coach of the USA Revolution, the US Men’s National team.  He brings with him a great deal of experience as a player for club and country, as well as a Level 1 certified coach.

Big Apple Hosts EAFL Coalition Clinic This Weekend

Developing American players from all over the East Coast will gather this weekend in New York, taking part in the first ever EAFL Coalition clinic.

First announced back in March, the clinic will help hone the skills of players not only on the ground, but off of it as well.  In addition to game skills, there will be sessions in strategic theory that will help augment their performance on the field.
