Aug 11, 2010 IC2011 Set for Divisions and Women's Comp The AFL is planning to host the next International Cup in August 2011 in Melbourne, Sydney and probably the Gold Coast or Brisbane. For the first time in Cup history the competing nations will be split into divisions. The AFL has told potential competitors that "IC11 will be run across multiple divisions - to be determined by the final number of entrants". Jul 26, 2010 Golden Gate Roos defeat San Diego Lions Saturday, July 25, 2010 - On a cool, windy day in Daly City, California San Diego won the toss and decided to kick against the breeze. This paid dividends for them almost immediately with the Lions kicking two quick goals via John Jones and Justin Valley to establish an early lead. However the Roos eventually settled with the midfield of Mark Beare, Revo Under 23 players Kyle Johnson and Matt Lege, Captain Andrew Lamont, Coach Matt Bishop, Brian Lewis and Revolution player Mel Chen starting to find the ball. Humber College’s Lakeshore Campus, situated right on the banks of Lake Ontario near Toronto, provided the picturesque setting for the 2010 49th Parallel Cup between the American Revolution and the Canadian Northwind. A Canadian victory in Vancouver in 2007 and with both teams preparing for the International Cup, in Australia in August of 2011, this promised to be a great game of Australian Football.
The US Freedom traveled to Toronto, Canada to play the Canada Northern Lights for the first time since their initial meetings in 2007. The teams were not entirely unknown to each other since the Canadian clubs have been competing at the USAFL National Championship tournament since 2007.
On a sweltering day with temperatures well into the triple digits, the Baltimore Washington Eagles hosted the New York Magpies, a rivalry which has become one of the most heated in the USAFL. In this “free flowing game of football” as Umpire Paul Reddacliff commented, the Eagles proved victorious in the last minutes of a brutal game of footy under the sun.Pages
