GameDay USA - NorCal, Texas Cup Wrap Up Season

After six-plus months of training, working, running, and matches, the USAFL season enters its 21st and final weekend of play.  After this, the teams await their assignments for the 2018 USAFL Nationals in Racine on October 13-14.

From regional rivalries to thrilling three-way carnivals, the last weekend of the home-and-away campaign has it all today.

NORCAL CUP – San Francisco, California
Men: #1 Golden Gate Roos (6-0), #3 Los Angeles Dragons (8-2), #17 Sacramento Suns (1-8)
Women: San Francisco Iron Maidens v Sacramento/Los Angeles

 A big day of footy in the Bay Area as the season winds down with the Grand Final rematch from last year.  The Roos and Dragons will get into each other one last time before Racine, while the Suns look to add to their win total.  On the women’s side, the defending D1 premiers from San Francisco take on a talented Californian combination.

TEXAS CUP ROUND 3 – Austin, Texas
#2 Austin Crows (8-0), #5 Dallas Magpies (6-6), #11 Houston Lonestars (6-5)

The murder from the Lone Star State tries to lock up another Texas Cup and keep their slate clean heading into nationals, while Dallas and Houston do their best to knock them off.  Nolan Cox will try to channel his brother’s high flying act with a big showing ahead of Nationals.

MID ATLANTIC CLASH – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
#15 Philadelphia Hawks (6-3), #6 New York Magpies (7-2), Baltimore Dockers (5-10)

The Hawks have done something they’ve never done in their 20 year history – won the season series against New York.  On Saturday, they go for a season sweep.  The Magpies will try to avoid that with a road win, while both will take on a Dockers team ending a long and grueling schedule.

BOMBERS vs LIONS – Irvine, California
#10 Orange County Bombers (7-6) vs #12 San Diego Lions (7-5)

One more go ‘round for the Bombers and Lions to round out the SoCal circuit, and the Bombers try to dish out a victory at home.

NORTH CAROLINA vs ATLANTA – Raleigh, North Carolina
North Carolina Tigers (2-5) vs Atlanta Kookaburras (0-5)

Atlanta, still searching for their first win of season 2018 as they head towards Nationals, take on a Carolina side who are looking for one last win before Racine.

NEW ENGLAND AFL – Portland, Maine
Maine Cats (0-4) vs Boston Demons (6-6)

The boys from the Pine Tree State wrap up their first season at home in Portland, trying to avoid a season sweep from the Boston Demons who look for win number seven of the season.

ROOSTERS vs FREEZE – Des Moines, Iowa
Des Moines Roosters (6-6) vs #13 Minnesota Freeze (7-3)

Meeting for the final time this season, Ben Judge and the Roosters welcome in the Minnesota boys in the I-35 Derby.

OUTLAWS vs GAMBLERS – Tempe, Arizona
Arizona Outlaws (0-4) vs Las Vegas Gamblers (1-0)

After nipping the Outlaws in a tight game in Nevada last weekend, the Gamblers now head south to complete the home-and-home, looking to see out the season on back-to-back wins before joining forces with Arizona for Nationals.
