WOMEN: Montreal Angels (1-1), New York Magpies (0-1), Boston Lady Demons (0-0), High Park Demons (OAFL)
The annual AFL Quebec Women’s tournament brings together the best from Le Belle Province against the defensive power Magpies, emerging Boston Lady Demons, and the western invaders from High Park, Toronto. The Angels have taken out each of the last two tournaments, while the Magpies try to repeat 2015’s championship effort. New York fell to Montreal by a single point in an ANZAC Day Weekend tug-of-war.
Meanwhile the Saints, who fell to New York on ANZAC weekend, host the Boston Demons in the PJ Devine Cup, named for the veteran defender who played for both clubs during his long footy career (and who now currently wears the blue with red yoke.) Quebec won at home last year; the Dees’ two wins have both come over the new Maine Cats club.
