Export Report: Freedom Pair Have Big Weekend in Australia
It was a big weekend for the two USA Freedom women currently playing in Australia, as they both were amongst the best on ground for their respective sides.
Former Sacramento Sun Katie Klatt kicked off her second full season with Melbourne University in VFLW, making her debut at fullback for the Mugars against Geelong at GMHBA Stadium. Making the most of her time at the home of the AFL’s Cats, Klatt had fifteen possesions, eight marks, and a couple of tackles in a best-on-ground performance for the vanquished Mugars, who fell to the Cats by 39 points. Another former USAFLer, Bec Pearce (New York), was a part of the winning side. Klatt and MUWFC head to Windy Hill on Friday at 10pm USEDT to take on Canadian Northern Lights players Kendra Heil, Valerie Moreau, and the Essendon Bombers.
Meanwhile, Portland’s Jessica Blecher, who was promoted to Keilor FC’s first team in the Northern Football-Netball League, booted home two goals for the Blues as they routed Diamond Creek by 79. Blecher’s two majors give her a total of five in as many games with the NFNL side, and in the process earned the San Jose native a best-on-ground nomination. Blecher and the Blues host the VU Western Spurs on Sunday at 12:20am.
