College 10s Teams Take to Texas this Weekend

The first college Aussie Rules tournament in nearly a decade takes to the campus of Texas A&M University this Saturday, November 22nd as six teams from five schools take part in the first ever USAFL College 10s Tournament.

The Soldier & Salior Fields at Veterans Park in College Station, Texas, will host a total of nine games beginning at 11am, with a coaches, captains, and umpires meeting at 10am.  Each team will play two preliminary matches, with the 3rd and 5th place matches commencing at 1:15pm, and the Grand Final culminating the carnival at 2pm.  Click here for the link to the full schedule.

Teams from the University of Texas, University of Houston, Texas Tech, and Louisiana State University will be making the trip to College Station for the weekend.  The homestanding Aggies from Texas A&M will be represented by two squads.

All players playing on Saturday must be registered. Click here for the registration link.  College registration is free. Anyone already registered with the USAFL does not have to register again.

The USAFL will be providing a BBQ lunch, scheduled to be delivered around the time of the final (2pm). We'll make sure to have some left over for the Grand Final teams.

After the tournament, head to the Northgate district afterwards for the postgame festivities.

As of this writing, rain is forecast, but the games will go on unless there is lightning.  Regardless, this should be a great tournament will one day have a large historical significance. Don't let a little rain be the reason you missed it!
