The USA Revolution, the men's national Australian Football team, will be participating at the inaugural Down Under Festival Football All-Stars Cup (DUFFA) in Atlanta, GA, over the Memorial Day weekend on May 26-27.

The Down Under Fest is the result of two years of work by a team of individuals who love Australia and New Zealand and want to bring some of their spirit to America. With a diverse market place, food, musical talents, activities for the kids and a special made Down Under Fest Ale it promises to be a weekend of fun for everyone!

The event will also include an Australian Football tournament hosted by the local Atlanta Kookaburras and will include other USAFL teams and the Revolution. Any USAFL teams interested in participating please contact the event facilitator Mick Keough.

Fresh from their 4th placing in the 2011 AFL International Cup (IC) the Revolution begin a new cycle to prepare for the 2014 IC. Their first international engagement is the 49th Parallel Cup game against Canada to be held in Dublin, OH, on August 4.

"The Down Under Festival is the perfect opportunity for the Revolution squad to prepare for the 49th Parallel Cup by getting quality game time and bonding while enjoying the many Australian cultural events on offer" said Revolution Head Coach Matt Bishop.

"While 2014 appears to be a long way off our preparations for the 2014 IC start now and if we are going to be competitive against the three powerhouse nations of Ireland, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand we are going to have to work very hard right from the get go!" he continued.

As part of his plans Coach Bishop intends to discover as many young, up and coming American players as possible and give them the opportunity to show that they have what it takes to lift the Revolution to the next level. We are generally looking for players aged 18-25 with at least one full year of footy experience.

If any USAFL Coaches have players that they feel could contribute to the squad and benefit from the experience of playing footy with the best talent in the country please contact Coach Bishop and provide the following information:

  • Player's name
  • Club
  • Email
  • Phone
  • Birth date
  • Height
  • Weight
  • First year played
  • Accolades
  • Brief description of strengths and weaknesses and positions generally played.

Any players interested in attending must be invited so please discuss your possible participation with your local coach.
