This Australia Day in San Francisco, the first ever inter-club Ausball match will be held. As part of the Australia Day festivities being run by the San Francisco Australian American Chamber of Commerce, the Sacramento Suns ‘Sac Footy All-Stars”, will take on the Golden Gate Roos “SF Footy All-Stars”. In addition to this match, Ausball founders, Matt Bishop and Denis Ryan will also conduct a clinic for anyone from the general public who is interested in learning more and having a go themselves.

Ausball began in 2006 when Denis & Matt introduced the game to members of the Baltimore-Washington Eagles. The club held it’s first 4-team league in 2007 in Washington, DC over an 8-week period. This was a huge success with a number of players, both male and female, from this very first league going on to play full tackle Australian Rules and have represented the USA at the international level.

Ausball now exist in Baltimore, MD; Sacramento, CA; San Francisco, CA and East Bay area;  Columbus, OH; San Diego, CA and Baton Rouge, LA.  The event on Australia Day will be the first ever inter-club match of it’s type to be held.
