Letter from the President | July 2012

In April, the executive board met with AFL International Development Manager, Tony Woods, in Chicago. This meeting I believe, marks a turning point for the USAFL.

The strategic growth plan for 2012 - 2016 was created in alliance with AFL international strategy and in accordance with international affiliate requirements, while maintaining a focus on the game at a domestic level. It has been my focus to implement programs that will directly result in the growth of the game. The league is short on resources (money and people), so any initiative must be done efficiently, professionally, and ultimately contribute to the growth of the game and participation.

A copy of the plan is available here »

Keep in mind that the USAFL is a volunteer organization… meaning we need to stay focused on these initiatives but more importantly, WE NEED YOUR HELP! If you see any areas of development that you are interested in becoming a part of, please let the executive board know. You can get involved and contribute to the future of football in the United States.

Individuals from the Columbus Jackaroos are a great example – they found the fields in Dublin, Ohio and worked with the Dublin Convention & Visitors Bureau to submit the RFP for Nationals… and Dublin is host to this year’s 49th Parallel Cup and a future site of the USAFL Nationals.

As always, thank you to your commitment in growing Australian Football in the US. I welcome feedback, questions, or thoughts, just shoot me an email.
