Seth McElvaney

Seth, his wife Claire, and children Anika, Olivia, and Ethan, live in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he teaches college mathematics. Seth has been a footy fan since he first saw it on TV back in 1981. In 1997, he founded the North Carolina Tigers. He also served as President of the South Eastern Australian Football League. Seth started umpiring when the Tigers' regular umpire got lost on some Carolina backroads on the way to a match. Seth took notice that he received many more compliments for his umpiring than he ever did for his play at full forward. It was then that Seth realized his true calling. He umpired at the 2001 Nationals and has been a full time umpire ever since. In 2006, Seth became only the second American to gain an AFL Level Two Field Umpire certification.
