The holiday weekend was nice and relaxing. It was time for some more relaxation because it was officially mid-semester break! Well, only a break from classes not football. I have been looking forward for the break so I could roam about Sydney and go sight-seeing.

Two of my friends and I decided that Monday we’ll do some sight-seeing around a few of the numerous areas of Sydney. So we got up early Monday morning and made our way to the Epping train station. From there we took a train into Circular Quay, the infamous location of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. Since we had already walked around and visited the Opera house, we decided to jump on a ferry and get off at Watson’s Bay. It was a very sunny and beautiful day. As were on the ferry, we had amazing views of the city’s skyline and Harbour Bridge. I took photos galore!

Watson’s Bay was a charming and quite part of Sydney. We noticed nothing too spectacular until we walked over to the ocean-side and found massive cliffs. As we strolled along the cliffs, I just stared out into the ocean blue and thought that somewhere northwest thousands of miles away, America was just sitting there. After scaling the paths alongside the cliffs, we wereready for food and settled for some true Aussie fish and chips. The remainder of the day entailed walking down the streets of Glebe, a truly unique part of Sydney compiled of old book stores, cafes, and the like.

Saturday’s match was against Holroyd-Paramatta. After the hard loss to Sydney Uni two weeks ago, the Reserves were ready to come out strong and put Holroyd in a deep hole. And so we did. The first quarter seemed to go on a typical game, with the ball getting kicked back and forth i.e. nothing special. But as the second quarter rolled on, so did we. Goals were going through the posts for us due to the clear kicks into our forward line. The game started to become quite “cruisy” and completely ours. At the half, we were up 80-1. The rest of the game actually got quite boring. I came on during the third and was stuck in the back line. The remainder of the match was in control of our centre-men and forward line. Every kick-out of the opponents was quickly gobbled up by our forwards and middle players. I had maybe two touches and disposals the whole game due to this. One positive, I did get a nice tan out of it…But on the other hand the final came to 216-9. What a steam-rolling!

The Seniors played a similar game as they controlled the ball for most of the match and ended up winning by 70 plus points. So all in all, the Macquarie boys had a great Saturday!
