Nationals Hotel Announced

The Board of the USAFL are pleased to announce that the Frontier Hotel has been selected as the host hotel for the 2006 Nationals to be held in Las Vegas on October 7 & 8.

Given the League's goal of running a top class event, offering players and spectators a memorable weekend of great competition, comraderie and fun, our event organiser approached over 25 hotels/casinos in the area. Only 3 were able to accommodate the entire group for that weekend. We believe it is important to have a hotel were everyone can stay, to offer a competitive rate and to have a hotel on the strip that was convenient to other attractions.

The rates of the other 2 hotels were over $180 per night with no breakfast included. In addition to room cost considerations, the Frontier was the only one who was willing to discuss sponsorship opportunities (providing we get sufficient numbers of people booking), offer free meeting space, free registration area, allow Coopers to be served on-site, hold a welcome reception poolside rather than in a banquet room, allow us to promote US Footy in and around the hotel and provide catering at the grounds.

These room rates may appear to be high, but Las Vegas is no longer a cheap place to visit. With year round occupancy rates of almost 90%, most hotels aren't interested in rooms blocks of this size, or making deals because they get the business without making any concessions on their part. Plus October is a busy month for Las Vegas and many hotels didn't have the space available.
