May 4th was an historic event for the Eagles. Members of the executive committee and social committee had the pleasure of visiting with the Australian Ambassador to the U.S., H.E. Mr. Dennis Richardson, at the Australian Embassy. Extremely well educated in the history of Australian Rules Football back home, we were able to discuss with the Ambassador the state of the game here in the United States. Topics ranging from our successes to the hosting of the Nationals in 2001 to promotion of the game on a grander scale were all bandied about. This professional contact can only help us in our efforts to promote the game to a larger audience here in the Baltimore/Washington region and we hope to build off of this meeting. We closed out the night by presenting the Ambassador with a certificate of Club Patron status and a signed jumper by the 2006 team.
