Adam Goodes delivery to US
SYDNEY Swans star Adam Goodes plans to play a leading hand in taking Australian Rules football around the world, particularly to the US.
Goodes and teammates Matthew Nicks, Jude Bolton, Jared Crouch, Michael O'Loughlin and Jarrad McVeigh went on a scouting mission last month to prepare for the club's 20-day tour to America in January.
They plan to spread the footy gospel, which will culminate with an exhibition clash against the Kangaroos in Los Angeles on January 15 as part of Australia Week.
Goodes said he had discovered during last month's tour that Aussie rules was growing and the code could give young Americans a choice of playing a sport other than the big four: baseball, basketball, American football and ice hockey.
He even predicted Harlem teenagers could soon be honing their skills with a Tommy Sherrin.
"From what I've seen and heard, they love the game," Goodes told The Sunday Telegraph.
Swans chairman Richard Colless says he wants the club to go the US each January to promote the game.
