Demons Come Into Form

June 4th 2005 Demons traveled to Philadelphia and return with two much needed wins. Losing games in the Eastern League is sure relegation. After the heat of Florida and 17 on 16 men, an official 18 aside format with cooler conditions was welcomed.

Game 1
Boston V Philadelphia
8  -  3           6  -  4
Damp, long grass and a few showers required solid wet weather football - just what we didn’t do in Florida but trained hard for to make automatic for Demons play. Two minutes after the first bounce Luke scores for the Dees and we overcome our Florida woes and Luke begins a brilliant two game performance. ScottyF won every tap from the center, Alan and Bam scored beautiful goals. Alan mad at the opposition stole the ball and kicked straight. Hollywood laid as many tackles as he kicked goals- a welcome sign from a forward to the coach and the defense. Jason, Sam and Vesty controlled the defense with skill and desperation. Spoiling, tackling, chasing, second effort and contest in the air were all features of the Demons game. Philadelphia in Philadelphia style fought to the very end.
Half time scores: Boston 4 goals, Philadelphia 4 – 2.

Game 2
Boston V Baltimore
11  -  7                3  -  9
Baltimore, depleted and tired, forfeited and played with 13 plus 5 from New York and Philadelphia. The game began with Poopy in control at the bounce and crisp clean takes around the ground. Scores at quarter time, 3 goals to one point. Half time scores¨5 to 1. The not so pressure side of weary Baltimore team allowed Demons more time to dispose and create, sometimes too much so.

We are on an 8 game world series to the National Final. Like the Boston Red Sox we are out to win all.
Good result and good adjustment by players to add the basics of pressuring the opposition to force errors and turnovers.
Now we have 3 months to build on this basic play to prepare for the next two games and set our play to match and beat New York.
