National Collegiate Invitational Results

The results are in for the National Collegiate Invitational, held Sept. 10-12 at Vanderbilt University. The tournament was played in an excellent spirit and all clubs joined National Collegiate Invitationalin the spirit of participating by using additional amateur players to assist with numbers (except for host club Vanderbilt who had 17 undergraduates playing). The tournament consisted of 5 clubs (with Belmont and MTSU combing due to short numbers).

The highlight of the weekend was the Championship Game - which saw the Missouri Roos leading by 4 goals at half time. In the second half the young Vandy squad came storming back to get within 2 points - before the Roos sealed it with a final goal. The contrast of the young Vandy squad and the more experienced Roos really added to this highlight of this match. The matches were played at Vanderbilt University and the Australian Festival over the course of the weekend - and without a doubt Vanderbilt University has accepted Aussie Rules as a bona fide, legitimate Sport Club option to play - and that is definitely a great start for the college game!  The dates for the 2nd National Collegiate Invitational Championship will be released in the upcoming weeks.

Congratulations to the Missouri Kangaroos - the 2004 National Collegiate Invitational Champions! Thanks to all five clubs for participating - in particular our traveling squads from Missouri, Ohio, and Louisville.
