Smash Footy Comedy Hits USA

USFooty is proud to announce that Reserved Seating Only is coming to North America hot on the heels of a five month tour of Australia.  This AFL endorsed comedy is a hilarious night of footy in the theatre that tackles the big issues: Life, Love...and the AFL.

About a mismatched couple who meet at a game of AFL, the play was a hit with audiences from Perth to Alice Springs, Darwin to Ballarat, Broome to Hobart.

He’s a loud, boisterous, one-eyed footy fan, she’s a committed sporting conscientious objector.   The stadium ain’t big enough for the two of ‘em!!

The setting is Melbourne’s Docklands Stadium.  The action swings between the Bombers and the Bulldogs slogging it out on the ground, and David Paterson (AL) and Cecelia Specht (Trina) squaring off in the stands over eighty laugh-packed minutes.

Reserved Seating Only, adapted and developed by David Paterson from a play by Peter B Sonenstein, has achieved critical acclaim in Australia:

“It’s very, very good.  I enjoyed it very much for the third time and I’d probably see it again.” Geoffrey Milne ABC Radio 3LO

“The audiences enjoyment of this light hearted show suggests that the divide between sport and art is a nonsense.”  Helen Thompson, The Age

“This feel-good show is also a nifty character study, a well paced, no frills, value-for-money, fun night of theatre.” the Sunday Age

“It will be enjoyed by any football lover, and non-lover, of the game.” Sunday Herald Sun

“Paterson and Specht are very engaging performers.”  John Gunn, Curtain Up

David Paterson and Cecelia Specht have starred on stage and screen in Australia and the US.   Their TV and film credits include The Bank, Chopper, On the Beach, Stingers, Neighbours, Ponderosa, Evil Never Dies, Blue Heelers and Stepsister From The Planet Weird.  They are about to star in the world premiere of Joe Borini’s Misdiredcted which opens on May 4th at the Lillian on Los Angeles’s Theatre Row.

As Boxing Day Productions they are eager to talk about bringing this highly portable footy play to footy clubs, leagues and associations in the US and Canada.  Paterson adds:

“Back home, clubs and even entire leagues have used the show as a fundraiser, come social evening.  It’s a great chance to combine a fun night of theatre with the game they all love so much.”

At USFooty we agree.  If you think that this show is something your club or association could profitably enjoy for a night or two, get in touch and we will begin programming a US tour of this popular footy comedy.
