Western Region Championship Series

The weekend of April 24-25 will mark a major step forward for the Western Region of USFooty. Clubs from throughout the west and beyond have been invited to descend on Denver to compete in the first installment of the Western Region Championship Series and celebrate ANZAC Day.
In the past, the western clubs have had limited opportunity to compete head-to-head due to scheduling and the costs associated with travel. This resulted in not producing a clear leader in the Western Region as Nationals tournament directors rated clubs for seeding at Nationals. Additionally, non-league affiliated clubs were forced to create opportunities for match play outside the schedule of league affiliated clubs.

The WRCS will consist of two invitational tournaments hosted by Western Region clubs, the first to be held in Denver and then in San Diego, August 14-15. The tournaments will be round robin play utilizing the Nationals 2x20 minute match format.

Denver President Tom Ellis had this to say: "The Denver Bulldogs would like to officially invite all the western clubs to the first ever Western Regional Tournament. The date is set for April 24th and 25th. We need to get an idea of who all is coming so we can set up a site. I have gotten verbal commitments from San Diego, OC, Colorado Springs, and Phoenix. We will require a $150 dollar deposit for the teams attending. This deposit will be refunded when team arrives in Denver. So far this looks like the making of a great competition. All details about Hotels will follow once we have the teams set. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.”

Any clubs interested in attending (Western Regional clubs or otherwise) should contact the Denver Bulldogs at president@denverbulldogs.com and/or San Diego Lions at secretary@sandiegolions.com for more information. Please visit their respective web sites for additional information.
